The Ceylon Bible Society organized the distribution of 100 Steps Family Bibles at Holy Trinity Church, Duwana, Pallansena. This initiative was led by Rev. Fr. Claude Nonis at the request of Father Francis Jayakody, Parish Priest of Holy Trinity Church, Duwana, Pallansena.
Program Details:
The program began with a word of welcome from Fr. Francis Jayakody. Fr. Jayakody emphasized the fact that this was an excellent opportunity for the children to receive this family Bible from the Ceylon Bible Society. He was really appreciative of the work done by them to spread the Word of God by distributing the 100 Steps Family Bibles in Sinhala. These Bibles are designed to guide families in their spiritual journey, offering step-by-step readings and reflections for daily devotion. Rev. Priyantha Wijegoonawardena delivered a speech, highlighting the importance of engaging children with the Scriptures and expressing gratitude for the support received from the Netherlands Bible Society. Rev. Priyantha also emphasized the fact that families don’t even find time to get together and converse with each other. In this context, this affords them a good opportunity to get together and share the Word of God as a family.
Fr. Claude Nonis delivered an introduction to the event, emphasizing the significance of the Family Bible. He stressed the importance of using the Family Bible properly and passing it on to future students at Sunday school.
· Around 50 Sunday School children, from Grades 8 to 11, actively participated in the program, representing the Sinhala congregation.
· A video presentation on the 100 Steps Family Bible provided insights into its content and structure.
