On the evening of Sunday, 8th December 2024, the streets of Moratuwa came alive with a profound sense of unity, faith, and reverence as Christians from various denominations joined hands to celebrate Bible Sunday. The event, organized by Kithunu Sabha Ekamuthuwa and supported by free churches in Moratuwa, was a beautiful testament to the power of God’s Word and the unity of His people.
In preparation for this special day, three planning meetings were held to gather ideas and ensure a seamless event. The result was a heartfelt and inspiring celebration that drew people from various churches, creating a vibrant and inclusive community of believers. The procession began at 4:15 p.m. from the Rawatawatta Methodist Church, winding its way to the Holy Emmanuel Church, Idama, where a thanksgiving service awaited. The streets were filled with the sound of marching feet and the joy of shared purpose. By 5:00 p.m., the congregation gathered at the Holy Emmanuel Church for a soul-stirring service. The church was filled with around 200 worshippers eager to give thanks and reflect on the Word of God. The General Secretary of the Ceylon Bible Society, Rev. Priyantha Wijegoonawardena, delivered a powerful and inspiring message, emphasizing the importance of Scripture in our daily lives and encouraging all to live out the teachings of the Bible.
Bible Sunday 2024 was not just a day of celebration — it was a declaration of faith, unity, and the enduring power of the Bible to bring people together. We thank everyone who participated, organized, and prayed for this event. May the Word of God continue to guide and inspire our community!
