For more than a decade, the Ceylon Bible Society (CBS) has been faithfully serving the deaf community in Sri Lanka. Understanding the need for accessible study materials, CBS has produced numerous resources, including The Gospel of St. Luke, The Book of Acts, the Sri Lankan Sign Language Dictionary, Ten Parables in Sign Language, and The Birth of Christ in Sign Language. Most recently, CBS launched The Crucifixion and Resurrection in sign language, marking significant progress in the Life Story of Jesus Christ series.
Currently, our dedicated team is developing a video glossary in sign language to further support deaf students and Christians across the country. We are also excited to share our latest initiative: a weekly “Thought of the Day” in sign language, posted every Monday on our Sri Lanka Christian Sign Language Bible Translation Facebook page. The response from the deaf community has been overwhelmingly positive, affirming the importance of this work and inspiring us to continue expanding these efforts.
CBS remains committed to breaking barriers and ensuring everyone, regardless of hearing ability, has the opportunity to engage with God’s Word in their heart language. Thank you for your continued prayers and support as we work hand-in-hand with the deaf community.
